HPDE Overview

The Spec Racer Ford Gen 3 is a purpose-built, sealed-spec race car sold by SCCA Enterprises. Every car is identical — same engine, same suspension, same tires, same everything. The car produces 135 hp and weighs 1,750 lbs, which sounds modest until you realize the aerodynamic downforce and slick tires give it cornering capabilities that exceed most production cars making three times the power. SRF racing is considered some of the best driver-development racing available. Because the cars are identical, success is determined entirely by driver skill. The racing is incredibly close — fields of 20-30 identical cars nose-to-tail through every corner. Many professional racing drivers credit SRF as the foundation of their skills. The SRF is not an HPDE car. It is a dedicated race car that requires SCCA membership, a competition license, and a commitment to the racing community.
