A pre-event safety check of your vehicle performed by qualified inspectors. They verify that brakes, tires, suspension, fluids, and safety equipment meet the minimum requirements for on-track driving.
The HPDE First Timers Guide (Bentley & Staub) distills car preparation to four essentials: "1. Tech inspection by a qualified mechanic, 2. Sufficient brake pad material/rotors, 3. A fresh brake fluid flush (change to high-performance fluid), 4. Sufficient tread depth on the tires. That's all you need, really!" The guide emphasizes priorities: "Safety, Reliability, Speed — a faster car that is either unsafe or unreliable will be no fun at all." The MORPCA Guide describes the trackside process: "the tech inspection crew will greet you, descending on your car to check the torque of your wheel nuts, the state of your brake pads, that your car is empty of junk. You will probably be asked to use the brake pedal so they can check your brake lights and also blip the throttle so they can check the throttle return." The ACNA Guidelines add that "participants are solely responsible for the safe condition of the vehicle."
